Elaine Frantz (Parsons)

I am a Professor of History at Kent State University. I'm interested in the history of violence, race, and gender. I am currently working on a book on violence workers in Pittsburgh, called "Thugs: A Labor History". I've written two other books, on saloon violence in the midwest, and on the reconstruction-era Klan. The book on the Klan involved network analysis, and that's the only real experience I've had with Digital Humanities. I also do some work together with people who are incarcerated in and around Pittsburgh. I am currently working to edit a book of essays by men serving life sentences.
