I am an Assistant Professor of Japanese history at the University of Pittsburgh. My research interests are in global social and cultural history, with a particular focus on Japan and the Middle East. With my first book, The Enchanted Modern: Japan, Egypt, and the Global History of Aesthetic Education, nearing publication, I am extremely excited about the prospect of introducing a more "distant" large-scale approach to my next project and have been assiduously studying up in digital history over the last couple of years.
