I received my Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University in 2013, focusing on criminology and juvenile justice in particular. My dissertation was a case study of trends in decision making in the juvenile justice system during the 1990s and 2000s, using Allegheny County as a case study. I worked for several years as a criminology professor at William Paterson University in New Jersey. Currently, I'm coordinating the Allegheny County Juvenile Probation Department's efforts to document and evaluate services funded by the Second Chance Act--a federal grant to improve outcomes for youth returning home from juvenile facilities.
