I am an historian of architecture and of the urban environment. I was trained as an architect, and I write of architects as audience and participants in the cultural debates of their eras, how changes in architectural education have an impact on the built environment, and how the collaboration of architectural history and practice plays out, today and in its historical iterations. My recent work is situated at the intersection of architecture, the humanities and digital media, notably with project ReCast, an augmented reality app for historic plaster cast collections - currently in use at the Carnegie Museum of Art. Originally from Italy, since 2007 I am based in Pittsburgh, where I teach for the School of Architecture of Carnegie Mellon University.
